Barbara are Brighton brothers Henry and John Tydeman, whose idiosyncratic brand of pop blends the melodic sweep of The Kinks, ABBA, and ELO with the narrative quirk of George Orwell and Harold Pinter. Their songs brim with strange characters, offbeat humour, and unexpected turns — yet always remain anchored by a love of melody, rhythm and dance.

It's this playful contrast — literate storytelling wrapped in catchy hooks — that’s earned them high praise from across the musical spectrum. Paul Weller calls them “one of the best groups about,” while Neil Hannon lauds their “tight songwriting” and “poptastic” energy. Legendary producer Steve Lillywhite says, “This band is nothing like anything I’ve ever heard and I love them!”

Following tours with The Divine Comedy, Haircut One Hundred, and most recently Paul Weller, Barbara continue to grow their reputation for clever, inventive songwriting and joyous live performances. Come for the dancing, stay for the stories — or the other way round. Either way, it’s a delight.
