New Sounds is the debut album by American R&B duo Mickey & Sylvia (guitarist Mickey Baker and singer Sylvia Vanderpool, later Sylvia Robinson). Originally released in 1957 on Vik Records, it was digitally reissued in 2015 by Legacy Recordings.

The album captures the duo’s playful vocal interplay and Baker’s sharp guitar work, blending rhythm & blues, early rock & roll, doo-wop, and touches of calypso. Tracks such as “Love Will Make You Fail in School”, “Peace of Mind”, and “Shake It Up” showcase their versatility, while the bonus material includes their signature hit “Love Is Strange”, a million-selling classic that became one of the defining songs of the 1950s.
