With their full length debut ‘Cluttercore’, Fochs Koshka now brings the punk ethos into their previously techno-oriented bass productions. Busy arrangements, hard hitting double-kicks and gnarly bass permeate the album throughout. Paired together with wonky synths that hooks directly into the listeners frontal cortex, ‘Cluttercore’ toes the line between technological accelerationism and societal collapse.
High pitched and squeamish sounds coupled with an ambiguous relation to genres have been a long running theme in Fochs Koshka's productions. On ‘Cluttercore’ they present a duracell-charged vision of how the human primate may embrace abandon and submit to the joy of moving to domination-oriented bass dynamics. Across 16 tracks the listener is given few respites, as Fochs command both attention and engagement with tracks that speak to our more base instincts. Part animal and part machine, ‘Cluttercore’ sounds as if someone put several rats and a macbook pro into their washing machine and ran it on a 2800rpm cycle.
