Maravijazz is the re-encounter of three talented musicians who have left a significant mark on the jazz scene of the Canary Islands since 1995. This trio has made numerous presentations and recordings, in which they highlight their ability to render original compositions & jazz standards.
The ensemble, led by pianist Augusto Báez with Ruimán Martín on double bass and José Miguel Méndez on drums, has a track record of several decades and countless appearances around the jazz circuits of the Canary Islands.
They have shared the stage with renowned artists and have been the core group of well-known performers on the Canary Islands music scene. Alongside percusionist Jonathan Olivares, they participated in the recording of Airun, by J.M. Churchi & Son de la Tierra, in the year 2017.
As a jazz trio they have performed on many occasions at different venues on the islands, such as the Liceo Taoro de La Orotava, the Municipal Cinema of Buenavista del Norte and, more recently, the Theatre Guiniguada in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, as well as at the main jazz events & festivals.
