The album "AFICIONADO - Flamenco Moro" by Moroccan musician Alaa Zouiten is a story of cultural reunification through music. Initially heavily influenced by classical Arabic music, Zouiten rediscovered traditional Moroccan melodies by deeply immersing himself in flamenco and discovering their striking similarities. The album is the embodiment of his long-held dream to unite these two worlds, with his instrument, the oud, becoming a bridge between the cultures. In the original compositions, flamenco styles ("palos") naturally intertwine with Moorish-Andalusian forms and North African rhythms, creating a unique transcultural sound that erases musical boundaries.
