This is the debut album of gothic folk princess, Hennessy Rose.
Enter KATABASIS, an album that details the journey into hell, and out the other side. A blend of cinematic western guitars, ethereal vocals and Lynchian imagery transform the deeply personal experiences of the project's creator, Clare Hennessy, into something other-worldly and distinctive - Australia's answer to Ethel Cain, or Lana Del Ray.
The entire production was created by Clare and producer Luke Fuller, the latter filling out almost every single band-part known to man. The master and mix was completed by Luke and Nick Franklin. The cover artwork was also done by Luke Fuller, and the colour grade by Chris Elder.
Unlike the legal highway robbery of modern streaming platforms, Bandcamp allows you to support the artists directly. Even if you do go on to listen to them on your favourite streamer, a single purchase of this album might clear your conscience, or give you some precious mp3s that... hey, who's to say won't be the most valuable form of data storage in the uncertain times to come?
In a world of AI, cloud storage and an ever-shrinking archive of music collections, add Hennessy Rose's Katabasis to your library of things YOU ACTUALLY OWN (damn, doesn't it feel good to own things?).
