This album is a soundtrack and compilation of compositions inspired by the film "Hawaii" (1966), based on the epic novel of the same name by James A. Michener. The film was directed by George Roy Hill, with music composed by Elmer Bernstein. The release includes themes from the film's soundtrack as well as other famous Hawaiian-themed melodies, such as "Blue Hawaii" and "Aloha Oe". This 2025 edition is a remastering made from the original master tapes of the historical Somerset label and is presented as a high-resolution (Hi-Res) audio recording that conveys the original "wide screen" sound.
