The split release by Japanese musician Yoichi Kamimura and Finnish artist Olli Aarni presents two sonic interpretations on the theme of glaciers, water, and memory, based on their joint performance at a rock church in Helsinki. Using a shared set of field recordings from Finland and Japan (including the sounds of glaciers, underground rivers, and animal calls), each artist has crafted their own unique composition. Kamimura's work, 'Kōri no ryokō', reflects on the melting of ancient ice and the threat of its disappearance. In turn, Aarni's track, 'Jäämatkailu', explores geological processes of erosion and immense timescales, creating a humming soundscape full of both minute details and macrocosmic flow.
