HOT Het Orgel Trio - Colors of Hendrix (2025) [Hi-Res]

They must have thought it could always be even more surprising... After projects where HOT received widespread praise for contemporary recompositions of jazz greats such as Charlie Parker and Duke Ellington, and then delved back 400 years with song arrangements by J.P. Sweelinck, they now present their unique vision of blues-rock legend Jimi Hendrix's work.

This acoustic program doesn't feature screaming or amplified guitars but instead showcases the expressive strings of Catalan cellist Pau Sola Masafrets. Grand organ sounds blend with blues licks in Foxey Lady. HOT also explores quiet moments, as in Hey Joe, which transitions from very small to very big and back again. In Voodoo Child, minimal rhythmic patterns build to an incantatory crescendo, filling the church with inspired breath.

In the program HOT Plays Hendrix, the members of Het Orgel Trio draw inspiration from the genius of the American guitar giant, all while gradually reinventing themselves.
