John Cameron - The Ruling Class - Soundtrack (1972) [Hi-Res]

"The Ruling Class" is the original soundtrack to the 1972 British satirical film of the same name. The picture, directed by Peter Medak and starring Peter O'Toole, tells the story of a British aristocrat who inherits his title after his father's death, while believing he is Jesus Christ.

Composer John Cameron created an eclectic musical score for the film, reflecting the schizophrenic and satirical nature of the plot. The music combines elements of baroque-pop, psychedelic folk, vaudeville, choral hymns, and eerie atonal arrangements.

The album was originally released in 1972 in the US in limited quantities on the AVCO Records label, quickly becoming a rarity among collectors. In 2010, the Finders Keepers Records label released the first-ever complete vinyl reissue, which included previously unreleased musical cues and compositions from the film.
