Singer-songwriter, Nigel Wearne releases his new album ‘The Lone Reckoning’ on Friday 17th October.
Recorded and self-produced by Wearne, 'The Lone Reckoning' is a raw, emotive, stripped back rendition of his 2023 award-nominated album 'The Reckoning'.
Featuring the same 11 songs as the full band album plus 3 bonus tracks, 'The Lone Reckoning' marks a return to his roots as a folk songwriter. All songs are recorded in their original form, solo and acoustic. Skilfully plucked guitar and banjo lay the foundation for deft lyricism that keeps poetry and storytelling alive; a single voice and instrument alone in a dark room. No overdubs, no effects, nowhere to hide.
Inhabiting the after-dark realms of blues, folk and Americana-noir, each song on The Lone Reckoning breathes, moves and lilts to a fluid cadence that only a solo performance can bring. True to form, the album features instruments Wearne made in his own workshop: Salvador, a Style 0 acoustic parlour guitar, an 11” open-back banjo and a nylon string 000 made by his father.
Blending blues, folk and Americana-noir, he sings of human frailty, grace and the cosmos. A deep thinker and truth speaker with a penchant for all things peculiar; songwriting that cuts to the bone.
