Felmay Record has announced the release of "Taramandal," a new album by flautist Virginia Nicoli (VIRGINIA NICOLI). The album, inspired by constellations such as Pleiades and Orion, blends tradition and innovation within Indian Classical music. Virginia Nicoli, known for her rare and unique vocal style of playing the Bansuri achieved through years of studying the ancient Dhrupad vocal tradition, collaborated with three Indian percussionists: Sukhad Munde (Pakhawaj), Subhajit Brahmachari, and Debajyoti Sanyal (Tabla). In "Taramandal," Nicoli's second album, she expands beyond traditional Indian Ragas (e.g., Bhimpalasi and Asavari That), exploring new melodies and rhythms to create mesmerizing soundscapes rooted in Indian Classical music and inspired by the vastness of the night sky. Each composition is a musical constellation that weaves together the Bansuri, North Indian percussions, and the Tanpura. The album booklet features reproductions of four celestial-themed artworks.
