Nell Mescal - The Closest We'll Get EP (2025) [Hi-Res]

Born in Ireland, Mescal has already had an explosive year. The singer performed at Come Together Fest, Reading & Leeds Festival, and Rock N Roll Circus this summer. This past January, she announced her signing with Atlantic Records, releasing multiple tracks leading up to the EP; one of these was the EP’s title track “The Closest We’ll Get”, a gut-punching internal battle about unspoken love. She expresses emotional uncertainty and what it’s like to experience the fight between settling for less and wanting something more.

After the EP opens with the emotional ballad “Middle Man”, each track flows beautifully from one into the other. Mescal shows off her vocals and lyricism as she leaves her heart unguarded. The folk songs show a vulnerable, more tender side to the singer — one that listeners will end up relating to and finding comfort in.
