The first release from MASS MoCA Records! - A rolling backbeat, handmade instruments, voices lifted in harmony, a call to dance, that is the music of The Kasambwe Brothers from Malawi, Africa.
They perform primarily in the streets of Ndirande, their native village, using an acoustic guitar, a babatone, a bass like instrument crafted from a tree branch and a suitcase drum set consisting of animal skins on old pots and bottle caps. This dynamic trio is inspired by their deep cultural heritage, yet their music transcends borders.
