Orchestra Harlow - El Exigente (Remastered) (2019)

The Larry Harlow Orchestra, led by pianist Larry Harlow and featuring singer Ismael Miranda Jr., underwent a definite change by embracing psychedelic, hippie, and "flower power" elements in their sound and image. This transformation was showcased during their sold-out debut night at the Monte Casino in Puerto Rico, where an audience of 1100, expecting a "typically Cuban Band," was instead astonished by a fantastic strobe light show with red, blue, green, and yellow flashes. Larry Harlow himself appeared with a mustache, sideburns, Indian clothes, and love beads. Described as the first and only Latin orchestra with a psychedelic light show, the band now plays boogaloo and shingaling while maintaining a strong Cuban spirit. The text also suggests that the new album will reveal the true identity of "EL EXIGENTE." Credits list the recording was done at Impact Sound Studio, with Johnny Pacheco as Recording Director and Jerry Masucci as Producer for Fania Records.
