A tribute to the creativity of the composer Joze Privshko. In 2017, the Big Band RTV Slovenija invited the excellent singer Nina Strnad to participate and recorded 13 of his songs with her, five of which found their place on the sound carrier for the first time with this album.
The year 2017 was the Year of Joseph. It has been 80 years since the birth of this outstanding musical personality, who led the Big Band of RTV Slovenia for more than 30 years. The national broadcaster paid tribute to him with shows, but also with concerts. Among other things, The Big Band RTV Slovenija devoted itself to Privsk's vocal opus with a concert moments with Joze Privsk and invited singer Nina Strnad to participate, and Lenart Krecic took over the management. Nina is certainly an excellent vocalist, but she is also one of the few singers of the younger generation who systematically devote themselves to the revival of songs from the golden period.
The decision of Nina Strnad and Project Manager Lenart Krecic, together with the big band musicians of RTV Slovenia, to focus on Privsk's lesser-known works in the selection of compositions, proved to be excellent for two reasons. The first is that today Joze Privski is associated more with jazz music and the then magazine Orchestra, and less with pop song. However, he was among the composers who wrote songs before 1962, when the first Slovenian popevka festival sounded. He also regularly participated in the festival until 1976 and created some extraordinary, today evergreen melodies, most often in tandem with the poet Elsa Budau. As an author of music, not only as an arranger, he also presented himself twice at the Eurovision Song Contest; in 1961 with a song by a long – standing Star – It was performed by Ljiljana Petrovi/, and the lyrics were contributed by Miroslav anti/, and in 1962 with the song Ne pali svetla U Twilight, sung by Lola Novakovi / (the lyrics were written by Drago Razvi/). He even took fourth place with her. This is still the best entry of any Slovenian author in the Eurovision Song Contest. In the Radio Archive, however, we rarely find Privshko's vocal compositions from the period after 1976. It is known that his true love was jazz, and the song was more of a job obligation. And yet, his vocal works should not be denied quality, and the pop songs in Privshkov's oeuvre occupy a significant part.
The second reason is that many compositions from this time, not only Privshkov, are buried in the basements of Radio Television Slovenia. With projects like this, at least part of them can be revived, and some even presented for the first time. This is one of the main tasks of our house.
And in this respect, the project moments with Joze Privpek is not only a tribute to him and his creation, but it is a turning point, because the tracks Putnicka, the cloud, and nothing happens, it is always summer in our room, and on the wings of longing only with this album for the first time found a place on the sound carrier. Some even after more than fifty years. The performances of Nina Strnad and the Big Band of RTV Slovenia under the leadership of Lenart Krecic bring new interpretations and conjure up just the right feeling of Modern Nostalgia.
