The Crimestoppers - On The Case (2025) [Hi-Res]

The debut album On the Case by The Crimestoppers marks a successful transition for members Anthony “Amp” Daniels, KeAmber Daniels, and Christy “Cree” Moore from backing vocalists to a standalone group. Their musical foundation is rooted in generations of eastern North Carolina gospel music and the "sacred soul" of their family groups. On this album, The Crimestoppers take a break from gospel to embrace straight-up soul and funk, effectively navigating the sacred-secular divide like predecessors such as Aretha Franklin and Sam Cooke. They showcase their vocal prowess across nine songs, all written by Jimbo Mathus (of Squirrel Nut Zippers fame) who co-produced the album with Bruce Watson of Fat Possum Records. The album, which features tracks like the funky “Body Shop” and “Dirty Hustlin’” and the grooving “Soul Provider,” brings these three stellar singers into the spotlight.
