Theia - Girl, In A Savage World (2025) [Hi-Res]

New Zealand singer and composer Theia, who works in the alternative pop and ethno-electronic genres, released her debut full-length album, "Girl, In A Savage World," on November 7, 2025. The album is a unique fusion of electronic pop with traditional Māori musical forms and the active use of the te reo Māori language, creating a distinctive ethno-alt-pop sound. In tracks like "Bury Ur Children" and "Hoki Whenua Mai (Return The Land)," Theia addresses socially relevant themes, including cultural identity, the struggle against the consequences of colonization, female empowerment, and heritage. Theia's work, praised by critics for its combination of social relevance and cultural motifs, is being supported by a tour across New Zealand and the US. During these performances, Theia for the first time combines her own material with songs from her Māori alter ego, TE KAAHU, presenting music to the audience in two languages and different traditions.
