Rum Ragged - The Hard Times (2018)

The second studio album by the band Rum Ragged, titled "The Hard Times," reflects the idea that difficult periods are a recurring theme throughout history, as evidenced by the inclusion of traditional songs. The album, produced by Billy Sutton, marks a natural progression for the band, which has matured through extensive touring and studio experience. Notably, all four members participated in the arrangement process this time, resulting in a spontaneous and authentic sound that captures the band's essence. Despite an expanding fan base and a wider touring map, the passion and enjoyment of crafting music remain consistent. The group emphasizes that their creative process is fueled by fun and good relations, alongside a desire to create music they themselves want to listen to. The band notes ongoing progress musically, better shows, and expansion into new markets, attributing this momentum to the fact that they continue to enjoy what they do. With three nominations at the 2018 MusicNL Awards (Celtic/Traditional Artist, Folk/Roots Artist, Group of the Year), Rum Ragged aims to build on the success of their album in 2019, hoping that with "The Hard Times" now made, their own hard times are over.
