The album Howling Back at the Wounded Dog by the American folk-Americana duo The Rough & Tumble, which consists of the married couple Mallory Graham and Scott Tyler, was released in September 2019 and includes 10 tracks. The duo, formed in 2011 and known for their “dumpster-folk” style and sincere live performances, travels extensively across the USA. The album is characterized by personal, mature, and intimate lyrics focused on themes of overcoming difficulties, personal transformations, reconciliation, intimacy, and finding inner freedom. Musically, it is a blend of soft Indie-Folk with Americana elements, showcasing depth in the lyrics and soulful duets. The opening track, “The Hardest Part,” was named the best Americana single of 2019 by the Independent Music Awards.
