Vidala - Una Historia Americana (2025)

The musical group Vidala, following a series of autumn performances including the "Éclats de Voix" and Besançon International Music festivals, is announcing three upcoming concerts of their project "Una historia americana" in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. The project, whose name translates to "An American Story," is a musical journey through the cultural and humanistic landscapes of South America. It is dedicated to the work of authors who used songs, poetry, and music as a means of resistance, resilience, and hope, helping entire peoples survive difficult times. Vidala gives the compositions a modern sound, combining instruments like the bootleneck (slide guitar) and Cuban Batá drums with the traditional Argentine bombo, and employing complex arrangements for vocals and percussion polyrhythms. The nearest concerts will take place on September 20 in Villeurbanne, September 26 at the Ambronay festival, and October 11 at the "Voix d’Hautecombe" festival in Savoie. Furthermore, Vidala announced the release and distribution of their album "Una Historia Americana" by the publishing house Frémeaux associés, signaling a successful season as they journey through the history of the Nueva canción movement of Latin America.
