Agnes Martian - Elsewhere (2025) [Hi-Res]

Agnes Martian's new album, Elsewhere, is a continuation of their first release, The Future Light Cone, developing the theme of cosmic journey and the exploration of new possibilities. While The Future Light Cone was built from 2020 jams primarily using a Korg MS-20 synthesizer, Elsewhere was conceived from the ground up through synth-driven explorations with an expanded palette, including FM and wavetable synthesis, after which other musicians were invited to improvise. The result is a richly textured musical suite balancing between rhythm and meditative stillness, combining analog pulse with organic resonance. The creation of the album's expansive soundscape involved Ben and longtime collaborators Zekarias (saxophone) and gideon hart (vocals), along with Primary Mystical Experience (drums), Rocco Freedman (guitar), and Pétur Eggerts (violin/acoustic textures). The title Elsewhere references the "light cone" concept in special relativity, symbolizing the band's desire to imagine alternative social and political possibilities and to uncover new soundmaking approaches. The album reflects the spirit of self-recorded experimentation and ecstatic exploration characteristic of Kosmische and new age genres.
