Recording on our partner label Carus Music, the Kammerchor Stuttgart under the direction of Frieder Bernius announce their upcoming album Nacht und Träume. Marking the anniversary of Clytus Gottwald’s 100th birthday this year, the album contains a selection of a capella transcriptions that pay tribute to the late composer’s art.

Today a cappella choral singing of the highest technical and interpretative level is regarded as a cornerstone of our artistic heritage. Gottwald has greatly influenced this tradition of choral performance through his arrangements of solo songs for polyphonic choir, thus enabling new and breathtaking sonic experiences. The music he transformed into a cappella choral experiences through his transcriptions ranges from Franz Schubert’s Nacht und Träume to Die Könige by Peter Cornelius and Solveig’s Song by Edvard Grieg.
