Be The Sky is a collaborative studio album by Tibetan-Australian artist Tenzin Choegyal and legendary American minimalist composer Philip Glass. The album, which serves as a "humble offering" in honor of the Dalai Lama's 90th birthday, continues their long-standing creative partnership, merging the profound Tibetan musical tradition with contemporary chamber music. The compositions feature Choegyal's traditional Tibetan vocals, dranyen (Tibetan lute), and lingbu (bamboo flute), which intertwine with Glass's mesmerizing, contemplative orchestrations, performed by string ensembles (notably the Scorchio Quartet and Attacca Quartet). The project also includes contributions from composer and multi-instrumentalist Alex Ring Gray, as well as poetry recitation by actress Saori Tsukada and prayers by the Dalai Lama. The music, crafted for piano quintet and string quartet, invites the listener into a reflective space, serving as a timeless expression of faith, unity, and compassion.
