"Between Dreams & Twilight" is the first collaborative album by bassist Mauricio Morales and pianist Adam Hersh, two composers and performers who are redefining the contemporary jazz scene in Los Angeles. The project is an exposition of intricate modern jazz composition, blending virtuoso musicianship with heartfelt storytelling. The album's title and concept symbolize the balance between the ambitions of creative success (Dreams) and the uncertainty, as well as the hardships (Twilight), an artist faces on their journey. The recording features an impressive ensemble of guest musicians: vibraphonist Warren Wolf, guitarist Mike Moreno, drummer Gary Novak, and the Rogue Lemon String Quartet. The nine original compositions include individual works by Morales and Hersh, as well as three co-written pieces. Highlights include the Shorter-inspired "Low Life," the string-led "Where the Olive Trees Wither," and the moving tribute "Retratos De Vida Interrumpida," honoring Morales' late uncle.
