Saxophonist and composer Tineke Postma is releasing her ninth album as a leader, VOYA, which initiates a new collaboration with vocalist Theo Bleckmann. Postma's core ensemble, featuring guitarist David Dorůžka, double bassist Robert Landfermann, and drummer Tristan Renfrow, has, over years of touring, forged a deeply personal and evolving sound built on trust. The addition of Bleckmann, a Grammy-nominated ECM artist known for his genre-blurring work in jazz and experimental music, allows for the creation of an expansive yet intimate soundscape. The album title VOYA is multi-layered, combining the ideas of "voyage," "the voice" represented by Bleckmann, and Oya, the Yoruba wind goddess. The album is a metaphorical journey through wind, voice, and spirit, and it also includes an homage to Postma's mentor, Wayne Shorter, through her interpretation of his composition “Someplace Called “Where”. The Tineke Postma Group is scheduled to tour in November and December 2025, and in January, September, and December 2026.
