The Bureau B label is releasing the first reissue of rare works by the legendary German DIY synthesist, instrument builder, and pharmacist Rüdiger Lorenz, who passed away in 2000 and is regarded as a godfather of German synth music. Lorenz, best known for his classic album "Southland" (1984), was also the father of Hamburg mainstay Tim Lorenz (Superdefekt) and left behind self-built modular equipment. The "Synrise" compilation features seven tracks, previously unavailable in digital format, lifted from rare tapes from 1981–1983. These pieces, embodying the fresh optimism of the artist and the quest of a new generation of Germans to create their own traditions, reflect a synergy of pharmaceuticals and circuitry. Lorenz's music, characterized by melody-driven impulses and a "starry-eyed wonder," places him alongside artists like Conrad Schnitzler, Cluster, Klaus Schulze, and Kraftwerk, and appeals to synth enthusiasts and retro-futurists. The collection includes the tracks "38-17-34", "Chamomilla Sabinae", "Dreaming of Saba", the 10-minute "Independence", "Promis of Sigma", and "Anigre".
