Drops - Drops (2021)

Cool jazz prog from Denmark. Similar to THORS HAMMER, it turned out that two people from this band played there at once - saxophonist Jesper Nehammer and keyboardist Henrik Langkilde. The sound is a little different, there is a certain funky touch, an admixture of fusion is also felt, but the album, as unique as Thors Hammer, is surprisingly stylish and extremely strong. Saxophone solos are reminiscent of Germans like Missus Beastly, a light ephemeral flute evokes associations with the Belgians Abraxis, and the use of a synthesizer hints at the Weather Report.
Good melodies draw the band into the musical world, and the album is not just a mechanical demonstration of the musicians' perfection, as is often the case with such "techniques" from jazz, but is really well thought out and composed. The sound is a bit light and not as heavy as, for example, the same THORS HAMMER, leans more towards jazz than rock, but listens in one breath.
