The 15-year-old Ensemble Nylandia, specializing in early music, presents a recording featuring European Christmas carols performed with historical instruments. At the heart of the album are the texts and storytelling of the songs. The moods range from the serene peace of the nativity scene to the cheerful dances of elves, highlighted in both the orchestral arrangements and the versatile instrumental ensembles.

The recording showcases a broad selection of instruments played by seasoned musicians of the baroque orchestra, including viols of various sizes, Renaissance and Baroque flutes, harpsichord, violone bass, lute, and vihuela. The musicians’ profound understanding of early music performance practices resonates throughout the album.
