Jimi Tenor, Jimi Tenor Band - Selenites, Selenites! (2025)

Finnish multi-instrumentalist Jimi Tenor marked his 60th birthday in 2025 with a significant creative output, culminating in the release of the album Selenites, Selenites!. Recorded in collaboration with the Jimi Tenor Band in studios across Hamburg and Finland, the record features an eclectic mix of eight compositions. The album's musical palette fuses soul, spiritual jazz, Afrobeat, and funk, establishing an overarching aesthetic of warmth and optimism.

For this project, Tenor assembled a collective that rehearsed in a domestic setting and enlisted Ghanaian vocalist Florence Adooni. The tracks range from complex post-bop and space funk to energetic jams reminiscent of James Brown. Despite global instability, the album serves as a manifesto of gratitude, celebrating human unity and positivity through rich instrumental arrangements and choral vocals.
