Factory Reset is the second full-length album of 2025 by the New York-based project Retail Drugs (Jake Brooks). The record marks a sharp stylistic departure from previous guitar-driven, tape-recorded compositions, shifting towards experimental electronic textures, distorted bass, and harsh noise elements. A unique feature of the album's creation was its sequential recording method: each track was written as a direct response to the one preceding it, creating a continuous narrative progression. Thematically, the release explores issues of dissociation, intrusive thoughts, and digital burnout, depicting the internet as a force that metaphorically strips the artist of his voice.
