The compilation features Southern R&B, Funk, and Deep Soul tracks by artists such as The Flintstones, Thomas Bailey, Alice Rozier, and Little Joe. The audio has been remastered from original vinyl sources, and the release is accompanied by historical liner notes from expert John Ridley.
