Sumbisori is the debut album by the Melbourne group Temporary Blessings, led by the renowned trumpet player and composer Liam McGorry. The group, which comprises members from Surprise Chef, Karate Boogaloo, Saskwatch, and other acts, was assembled to realize McGorry's compositions, which draw heavily on 1960s Italian and French soundtrack music. Produced by Henry Jenkins, the recordings are a live capture of McGorry's sonic visions spanning film noir, giallo, library music, and cinematic soul. The album is characterized by emotive string arrangements, powerful horns, and a steadfast rhythm section. Liam McGorry is a veteran of the Melbourne soul scene, having led successful projects like Saskwatch and Dorsal Fins, and collaborating with artists such as Sampa The Great. Sumbisori channels the romance and drama of 1960s Italian film scores through the distinct lens of Melbourne's cinematic soul movement.
