Aviva's debut album, The Fool, was born in the midst of a violent storm that hit Northern California in early 2023. The storm mocked meticulous planning and demanded complete surrender. Despite this, a group of accomplished musicians gathered in a rural cabin in Sonoma County (a friend's home and recording studio). Despite the power outage, they chose to trust the process and walk toward the cliff. Playing huddled together by candle and generator light, Aviva's carefully crafted and sensitive songs evolved into the album's big, honest, and thoughtfully composed anthems.
The cycle of heartbreak, introspection, and reinvention is constant throughout The Fool. The narrator, Aviva, unwaveringly pursues her deepest truth and vows to keep taking repeated steps toward the life she wants. It's a meditation on having the courage to be broken by possibility—showing up vulnerable, flowers in hand, face to the sun, and wholeheartedly trusting whatever lies ahead. Aviva says, "As long as I'm here, I'll be a fool," showing her willingness to face her true nature.
