Susannah Stark's second studio album, »Minor Gestures«, opens with questions set against a backdrop of birdsong, synths, and river field recordings. Released on the Stroom and Night School labels, the album features songs sung in both Gàidhlig and English, establishing a continuous dialogue with the surroundings, history, mythology, and the listener. Recorded with an ensemble of experimental and folk musicians, the resulting work is an open-ended, curious, and sensitive omni-directional conversation. The compositions, which predominantly utilize acoustic instruments and folk modalities, exhibit a confident delivery as Stark consistently shifts narrative perspectives.
