A magnificent and beautiful record performed by a 20-piece orchestra.
This collaborative album features two composers, Takahiro Kido and Yuki Murata, who are members of the cinematic instrumental music band Anoice and its side projects RiLF and Films, and are also leading Japanese post-classical artists.
This album features 10 tracks selected from Anoice as well as the duo's solo projects, recorded with the chamber orchestra CAGMO, comprised of eight violinists, three violist, three cellist, two bassist, as well as a flutist and a harpist. Takahiro Kido personally conducts the orchestra, and Yuki Murata also participates as pianist on all tracks. Their flawless collaboration transforms the original songs into an even more beautiful and grandiose sound.
The album features masterpieces representing each project, including Anoice's "liange" and "ripple," Takahiro Kido's "where time goes," and Yuki Murata's "red owl." Experience the breadth, sway, and depth that can only be achieved with a live orchestra, as well as the breath of each performer. Particularly noteworthy are Anoice's "the light" and Takahiro Kido's "roads," whose gentleness spreads like a majestic earth when performed with the orchestra; Yuki Murata's "ice flower," which takes on an even deeper sense of tension; and Anoice's "colder than thermite" and "drops," which boast a striking aggression.
This album was recorded over the course of one week in 2019 at a recording studio in Moscow, before Russia's invasion of Ukraine and just before the COVID-19 pandemic began to spread around the world, and featured musicians from various countries, including Russia and Ukraine. This is a culmination of Takahiro Kido and Yuki Murata's work, and a commemorative album that reaffirms their attitude towards music.
