Mark's Park, Vol. 1 is a musical anthology compiled from exclusive live performances recorded as part of the "Live at Mark's Park" series. The setting is the scenic backyard of Playing For Change producer and founder Mark Johnson in the legendary Venice Beach neighborhood of California. Unlike the global "Songs Around The World" collaborations, the focus here is on intimate, continuous performances in front of a live audience. The album brings together an eclectic mix of genres: from John Cruz's Hawaiian slack-key style ("Island Style") and roots reggae by Afro Fiesta ("Stir It Up") to the powerful soul of Clarence Bekker ("Valerie"). It is a recording about the warm sense of community, where music is born in the moment, without studio artifices.
