Sam Brothers - SAM (Get Down!) (2004)

A Louisiana-based group comprising five teenage brothers recorded an album in 1979 with contributions from their father. Despite a visual resemblance to the Jackson 5 and expectations of a zydeco-soul hybrid, the record primarily serves as a competent yet standard collection of traditional zydeco compositions with subtle blues elements. Leon Sam acts as the group's leader, performing most of the original material. The sole exception to the overall sound is the opening track, which features 1970s dance soul-funk reminiscent of the band Chic.
