The album "The Darkened Mirror" is a collaboration between Tetuzi Akiyama, Tom Carter, and Christian Kiefer, released on Monotype Records.

Tetuzi Akiyama is an experimental musician from Tokyo who combines free improvisation, noise, and elements of classical music in his work. He is known for organizing the influential "The Improvisation Meeting" concert series and for his involvement in projects such as Madhar and a duo with Taku Sugimoto.

Tom Carter, raised on American punk and British post-punk, is a co-founder of the band Charalambides. His contemporary solo work is characterized by the use of looped guitar drones with rich psychedelic melodic content. He also operates his own imprint, Wholly Other.

Christian Kiefer centers his work around a re-imagining of the history and mythology of the American West. His music, often conceptual, blends acoustic folk instruments with experimental percussion (such as a sawblade or office furniture) to create dark soundscapes inspired by both historical revisionism and minimalism.
