The ensemble Delydious caused a stir in 2019 with their CD "Debussy...".*
The album features original compositions alongside arrangements of works by Claude Debussy and Erik Satie, presented from a fresh, jazz-specific perspective. Flautist and arranger Günter Wehinger has chosen a highly original instrumentation for the album, including vibraphone, flute, electric bass, and koto (a Japanese stringed instrument). His arrangement of Erik Satie's "Gnossienne 1" has been particularly successful, garnering over 140,000 views on YouTube.
Since then, Debussy and Satie have taken a backseat, and new original compositions, written specifically for this ensemble, now dominate the Delydious program. Her new album “Live at the Bird’s Eye”, a concert recording from the Bird’s Eye Jazz Club in Basel from November 2024, will be released at the beginning of 2026.
* “A remarkable recording of works by Claude Debussy, performed, with great sensitivity, by a unique instrumental combination […] this is not like any jazz we have heard before.” Peter Westbrook
