Blind Japanese star pianist Nobuyuki Tsujii announces his upcoming second DG album, on which he dedicates himself to the most emotionally powerful soundscapes of Russian Romanticism.
Nobu will perform Rachmaninoff's Third Piano Concerto, one of the most technically demanding works in the piano repertoire, together with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under Domingo Hindoyan . This will be complemented by carefully selected solo piano transcriptions of works by two of Rachmaninoff's most important predecessors, Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov.
“Piano transcriptions are fascinating because the arrangers are usually outstanding pianists. They know exactly what is needed to get the most out of the instrument. It is always a joy to play these pieces,” says Nobu.
