Marc Ribot's Ceramic Dog - Party Intellectuals (2008)

Marc Ribot debuts with
his new band, Ceramic Dog, on the album Party Intellectuals. The trio, featuring Shahzad Ismaily and Ches Smith, defies stylistic boundaries by blending the energy of punk rock with jazz improvisation and experimental electronics. The collective focuses on creating an intense, sometimes chaotic sound filled with irony and drive.

The album includes both original compositions and deconstructed covers, showcasing Ribot's virtuosic guitar work and the tight chemistry of the rhythm section. The core concept of the record lies in achieving the ecstatic sound of "pure rock and roll" through the prism of avant-garde thinking and sonic manipulation.
