“I Ruperts soli skönjer man alltid den aktuella melodin, en företeelse som Lou Bennet högeligen uppskattade -Dick Idestam-Almqvist”
In the summer of 1963 Swedish engineer/photographer Nils Edström did two of his great recordings of the jazz scene in Stockholm, Sweden.
On the stage was Hammond B3 giant Lou Bennet, originally from Chicago but by that time living in Paris. He was accompanied by André Condouant from Guadalope that came with him from Paris on guitar and by the great Rupert Clemendore on drums.
The repertoire is almost entirely standards and contemporary material from that time and Lou Bennet et al handles the music beautifully.
In this album you hear a complete evening, three sets in front of quite a small audience, please enjoy it
The second night’s album will be released later this year.
Lou Bennet Hammond B3 (1926-1997)
André Condouant, guitar (1935-2014)
Rupert Clemendore, drums (1925-2005)
