Mississippi Queen & The Wet Dogs – Phoenix (2024)

For about ten years Basque band Mississippi Queen & The Wet Dogs has worked hard to give shape to their musical proposal and now they have got the status and quality necessaries to burst into scene of black music made in Spain, as they combine styles like soul, funk, blues, gospel or country.

Led by the powerful voice of Inés Eleuteria who, together with Noa Eguiguren are the backing vocals of Travellin’ Brothers band, the Wet Dogs include Aitor Zorriketa on guitars, Mikel Nuñez on piano and keyboards, Jon Carranza on bass and Ander Alonso on drums, also counting in the recording with Gabriel León on double bass in one song and Noa Eguiguren, Lide Hernando and Iñigo Gómez on backing vocals in three songs.

This is their second album and includes eight own compositions that show the maturity and versatility that, despite their youth, they have already reached, something that allows them to take a stand as a band which knows how to combine black music tradition with the most actual sounds of the genre.

Although they usually perform in Basque Country area, Mississippi Queen and The Wet Dogs are called to become a benchmark in national scene. The quality of all the band musicians and Inés’ elegant and well-pitched voice prove it.
