"Entre Ilhas" (Between Islands) is a solo project by Curitiba-based guitarist and composer Rodi Mendes. The album is a deep dive into contemporary Brazilian instrumental music, where jazz improvisations are intricately woven with traditional rhythms such as samba, maracatu, and baião. A centerpiece of the release is the collaboration with the eminent guitarist Nelson Faria, whose participation in the track "Maré Mansa" sets the tone for the entire record, highlighting the generational dialogue within the MPB and Brazilian jazz genres.
