Proving himself a master of juggling country influenced genres, Dan Wheetman never disappoints on his 1992 release of Honey Be There. Effortlessly jumping from the hard honky tonk of "Losin' You Might Be the Best Thing Yet" to the Texas swing of "Time Changes Everything" and the infectious groove of "Cajun Holiday," Wheetman probably seems most comfortable with smooth Merle Haggard-esque country balladry. At any rate, Wheetman is a fine vocalist and his band is more than capable of following him through his genre exercises. All in all, an infinitely listenable and enjoyable set.
