Jan Michálek - MOURISCA (2026) Hi Res

Mourisca is a place where a few more stories can be observed every time you arrive. Seven parts were put in motion by me and are open for you to catch, between your palms, in your hair, under your feet. Anything that moves will do! Momentarily meanings are created by you listening to it; by doing so, one wing closes so another can fly. Mourisca suggests what I have learned about how to even speak.

While shaping this creature into a playful being, two layers of sound mingled and intertwined here. For a moment it almost felt like having a band with myself.

Both tracks are improvised and recorded live in one piece. Electronics was captured by me on a portable recorder. The next step involved recording the saxophone in a small church in Kostelec nad Černými Lesy. Free of nostalgia of the past or future, everything stretches a little bit more and captures how I experience and create things now.
