The Dragon Priest, second in the series of Leafblade's Arthurian Cycle, continues the enthralling, magical progressive rock saga, a project spanning multiple albums rooted firmly in the Arthurian mythos. Decades in the making, Sean Jude's elaborate song frameworks spring into summer leaf in collaboration with Thomas Legg's orchestral weaving. The Dragon Priest blazes on with a very human, yet magical story, evocative, fragile, powerful.
King Vortigern has been defeated; Lord Ambrosius makes ascent as an equitable and noble leader among the Britons of the Insular Sacris. The High Kings look to his shield, and young Merlin of the Feathered Cloak begins a warm and collegiate friendship with him. The stirring dragons within the land have been quelled by Merlin's magic, but war looms still, and the dragons yet will not sleep.
While his Fae mother hovers at death's door and winter's icy clutches grip the land, Merlin enters the Sabbatical Round at Stonehenge, The Giants' Dance. In the tradition of the exalted master, Merlin journeys both the Wilderness Within and Without, calling The Old Ones and the Stag. In vision, he sees the greatest challenges he must face: the coming of Arthur the king; the enchanted blade, Caliburn; a castle in summer beauty, and 'a table in the likeness of the world'. There will be horror, ruin, profound love and a spiritual love that will rend his own world asunder: the beautiful Dryad Nimhue of Broceliande forest...
