Following the acclaimed self-released “Hwan Se 환세”, Korean composer Okgwa comes back on Polën with her most dense work yet : Hayan Kkot.
Drawing from the Korean spiritual concept of Han, a blend of deep grief and resentment, but still with hope, Okgwa weaves a subtle web that stretches across space and seasons, reflecting on death, life and on the fragile boundaries between humans, consistently shaping her unique sound through an intense ten-track album that follows directly on from her first album.
In Korea, the year is traditionally divided into 24 solar terms (절기), subtle seasonal points based on the movements of the sun and moon that guide farming and life rhythms.
In Okgwa’s previous album, the last track was Equinox (추분 or 춘분). The following solar term after the equinox is Hanro (Cold Dew): the moment when autumn deepens, the air turns sharp and clear, and cold dew gathers on the grass.
This new album, organized in two acts, closes with the track Hanro, which is also its release day: October 8th. A time when the earth itself exudes that cool, luminous breath.
The Space Drum Meditation remix enriches Okgwa’s sonic voyage, offering a striking and singular reinterpretation of the track Sikdang.
