The album is a comprehensive archival reissue of recordings by the legendary South African group Batsumi, covering their creative peak between 1974 and 1976. Emerging from Soweto, the ensemble became a cornerstone of the spiritual Afro-jazz movement. Batsumi's music is defined by deep hypnotic rhythms, the use of flutes, and powerful bass lines that evoke a ritualistic atmosphere. This edition features meticulously restored recordings from the original master tapes, including landmark tracks from their self-titled debut and the follow-up album Moving Along. The project was curated by the As-Shams label under the guidance of Rashid Vally, ensuring the historical authenticity of the sound.
